Our competition film festival is open to the public and proudly features submissions from filmmakers around the world. The festival is open to the public and celebrates the past, present, and future of filmmaking with workshops, interviews, panels, appearances, concerts, premieres, parties, fireworks, and food. Many of our specialty screenings and celebrity interviews are free and open to the public. This year our public screenings will take place in AMC Celebration and at Lakeside Park directly across the street. A combination of free and ticketed events, this year’s festival will feature tributes to Disney animation, comedy, and the western. Independent productions will be screened alongside Hollywood classics in indoor and outdoor settings around Celebration’s gorgeous lakeside promenade with many concert tie ins. Best of all, there’s no need to drive; just park and walk to everything. We invite young and old alike and will keep festival goers informed of best bets through our site, box office, information booths, and volunteer workforce.
Submissions
Our official submission deadline has passed but we are pleased to announce that this year’s line up of films includes work completed by excellent filmmakers the world over including several Oscar Award nominees and recipients. With the international spotlight on South Africa this year, audiences can expect to gain insight into the lives and future of a culture once fragmented by apartheid but now being reunited through film, sports, and music. Faced with many policital, and socio-economic challenges, South African filmmakers use the art and power of film to change their world.
This year’s festival culminates in our closing night awards gala where we’ll award the winners in our shorts, features, docs, and student categories. Stay tuned for our press release announcing this year’s scheduled line up of films and starring appearances, and the announcement of our very first life time achievement award recipient.
